In the Shadows, the Radio Cut does not begin with a live, Woodstock-styled, solo distorted lead guitar performance. This short version has an edited shorter Jimi Hendrix-style guitar intro and a first-take lead melody and guitar performance. It was recorded in San Francisco's North Beach area, played from a nine-story apartment overlooking the San Francisco Bay, Fisherman's Whorf, and Alcatraz, on the 4th of July 1995. After the Jimi Hendrix "Purple Haze" lick, the song moves to a solid power groove with strong melodic content. There are keyboard and guitar solos that play off each other throughout the composition.
